Ray Bradbury dead at 91

I love Science Fiction. There are some giants of this genre the "Big Three" Arthur Clarke , Robert Heinlein, Isaac Asimov . Ray Bradbury didn't quite fit into this category, reading about him I realize he couldn't be confined to a narrow category. Ron Wilkerson, (our very own family science fiction writer) wrote a nice tribute on his Facebook page. Ron has written for Stargate and Star Trek: The Next Generation.

One of my heroes passed away today. Though I did not know Ray Bradbury personally, I met him several times at writers' events in LA (see geeky photo of me with Ray). His words and his actions (he was a writer up to the end) have inspired me through life. I can say without question that Ray was one of the reasons I became a writer.
One of my favorite stories that he told about himself was how, when he became the father of a young child, he found it difficult to write at home. But he learned that he could rent a typewriter at the typing lab at UCLA (beneath the library) for ten cents an hour. And that's where he wrote Fahrenheit 451. Rest in peace, Ray Bradbury. Your life will be celebrated forever through time and space.

Lizards in the Hayloft

I can honestly attest to the fact that I live in a location with a rich variety of musicians. The folks down the street
have a band called "Lizards in the Hayloft". They performed recently for a Library benefit in Ashby Mass.

Sharon Rosenfelder did this cover of "Boots of Spanish Leather" which I absolutely loved. I thought I would share it.

The nice thing about having neighbors who play music is the opportunity to sit around a fire and sing all those great tunes. Enjoy!
