The Bell Tower

I re-discovered that I am not a fan of heights when I was invited to visit the Bell Tower at the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church in Ashby, MA. Before I got to this "staircase" I climbed a ladder whose rungs seemed just out of reach.

I was cautioned that the steps might crack. The stairs were designed by M. C. Escher

Imagine my surprise when I found I need to climb through a hole in the ceiling to get to the bell tower. Thankfully it had guard rails

I was suprised to see an iron clapper. My host rang the bell for me, very impressive.
