Floral Friday

Good Morning,

I missed seeing the early blooms on my Star Magnolia (Magnolia stellata) when all the flower buds were killed by a freak 14 degree frost, however now the rest of the flowering shrubs and trees are in blossom.

Eastern Redbud (Cercis canadensis) in bloom. The blossoms arrive first and are edible . I have two trees which did sustain some ice damage in past winters.
Fothergilla, a member of the witch hazel family. This is a great pest free shrub that is growing into a small thicket. The fall foliage is very colorful too.

Flowering Quince, a touch of red for Springtime

Lilac - Variety 'Abraham Lincoln'
Bleeding Heart now named Lamprocapnos spectabilis

I avoid mowing any area that is blooming with Forget-Me-Not flowers. I also have some dependable Primrose plants that bloom in Spring and Autumn.
