Tree Swallows

A few years ago my cousin's husband gave me a birdhouse that he had constructed from some scrap lumber. For many years it would be occupied by a noisy family of wrens and 2016 was no exception.
In the early spring I watched a  the wren couple gather nesting material and set up residence.

One day I caught sight of some tree swallows taking over the nest, they had the size advantage over the tiny wrens and seemed determined to make this their nest. However I think they felt a bit crowded and were gone as quickly as they had arrived. I am happy to report that the wrens came back..

These birds almost collided. This may be when they decided that the place was too small
