A Mystery

In one of the boxes of donated household items was a letter addressed to Lew Fifield at a Baltimore, Maryland address. The letter originated from Milano Italy. The envelope contained several photos of a seven month old child (Erica) and her mother (Biba). I was unable to discern the date from the envelope. Anyone know these people?

Thank You - 155th Children's Fair

As co-chair of the Garden Shop I would like to thank my volunteers Angelika Weber  and Cheryl Ricci for their assistance at the 155th Children's Fair. We had a nice selection of annuals and perennials donated by our local nurseres and gardners. Without these contributions there would be no Garden Shop.

Lula Wiles - One More Night

Lula  Wiles performs their song  One More Night at a summer party in New Ipswich, NH.

The party was held in celebration of their newly released CD of original songs.

LULA WILES is Isa Burke, Ellie Buckland, Mali Obomsawin

Lyrics:

Well there's dust in every corner of this dim little room
Behind the bar they're hanging Christmas lights in June
But the band's playing loud
I'm staring you down
You'll be gone soon

Got my heart on my sleeve and a drink in my hand
I know that tomorrow you won't be my man
But honey that's okay
I want it that way
You understand?

Ooh, if this ends tonight
Then let's end it right

I just want one more dance after the sun goes down
One more chance to make this old town feel all right
Honey all I'm asking for is one more night

Well the next time I see you I'll be wearing black
My lips will be wine-red and my composure intact
And I'll leave alone
I'll walk all the way home
I won't look back

The party was held in celebration of their newly released CD of original songs.

Lyrics:

I was restless and wild
You left me beguiled
When we drank in the cool night air
And you told me tales
Of the places you had sailed
And I said I'd never traveled anywhere

And now we're driving
You move so fast
And I keep thinking
This can't last

Now roll the windows down so I can feel the air
Show me every place I've never gone
But when tomorrow comes, I wonder
Will I be standing still
When you're traveling on

It was midafternoon
In the middle of June
The highway stretched towards the sky
I was wearing that blue dress
As we headed west
You said it was the color of my eyes

And now we're driving
You move so fast
And I keep thinking
This can't last

Now roll the windows down so I can feel the air
Show me every place I've never gone
But when tomorrow comes, I wonder
Will I be standing still
When you're traveling on

That summer's long gone
You're still moving on
But it's not you that's on my mind
It's the sun and the wind
And the feeling on my skin
That feeling I can't seem to find

When we were driving
I moved so fast
I wish I knew how
To make it last

Now roll the windows down so I can feel the air
Show me every place I've never gone
But when tomorrow comes, I wonder
Will I be standing still
When you're traveling on

Lula  Wiles performs one of their sings on their debut album

The party was held in celebration of their newly released CD of original songs.

LULA WILES is Isa Burke, Ellie Buckland, Mali Obomsawin

Lyrics for Oh:

I wanted to see
Still wanted to be
I wanted to see you again
Way back then

I covered my eyes
Discovered my pride
I covered my eyes up
I closed them down
I kept them shut

You said that you were mine
But I'll say it, you lied
You said all your lines
You proved untrue
And I got bruised

Don't think twice, baby, I don't care
I never knew how to love you anyway
And I didn't really want to be your girl
I can lie too
Baby it's okay

Lyrics:

Where there's a cloud, don't mean there's rain
Tears in my eyes, don't mean there's pain
Don't flatter yourself
I'm over you
Things aren't always what they seem
You can't believe everything you read
On my face
I'm over you
You heard I'm drinking more than I should
That I ain't been looking all that good
Someone told you I was taking it rough
Why they making those stories up
When I'm over you
There were times that if you'd been around
You would have seen me broken down
But now you won't
I'm over you
So if I seem a little bit cold
It only means you've lost the hold
You had on me
I'm over you
You heard I'm drinking more than I should
That I ain't been looking all that good
Someone told you I was taking it rough
But why they making those stories up
When I'm over you
You heard I'm drinking more than I should
That I ain't been looking all that good
Someone told you I was taking it rough
But why they making those stories up
When I'm over you
I'm over you
I'm over you

Lula Wiles - Rose Connelly (Down in the Willow Garden)

Down in the Willow Garden is a cheery little tune about a man who poisons his lovers glass of wine, stabs her with a saber and then throws her into the river. Fairly typical fare for this genre of  bluegrass music. It was performed by Lula Wiles at a summer party in New Ipswich to celebrate their newly released CD of original songs.

LULA WILES is Isa Burke, Ellie Buckland, Mali Obomsawin

Lyrics:

Down in the willow garden where me and my love did meet
There we sat a-courting my love fell off to sleep
I had a bottle of burgundy wine which my true love did not know
And there I poisoned that dear little girl down by the banks below
I drew my saber through her which was a bloody knife
I threw her in the river which was an awful sight
My father often told me that money would set me free
If I would murder that dear little miss whose name was Rose Connelly
Now he sits by his old cabin door a wiping his tear-brimmed eyes
Mourning for his only son out on the scaffold high
My race is run beneath the sun the devil is waiting for me
For I did murder that dear little girl whose name was Rose Connelly

Lula Wiles - The Pain of Loving You

LULA WILES is Isa Burke, Ellie Buckland, Mali Obomsawin

They performed at a summer party in New Ipswich to celebrate their newly released CD of original songs. They started the concert with a cover of the Dolly Parton/Porter Wagoner song "The Pain of Loving You".

Lyrics:

Oh, the pain of loving you
Oh, the misery I go through
Never knowing what to do
Oh, the pain of loving you

You just can't stand to see me happy
Seems you hurt me all you can
Still I go on loving you
But I never understand

To love and hate at the same time
The line between the two is fine
The two have bound me heart and soul
So strong that I can't let you go

To love and hate at the same time
The line between the two is fine
The two have bound me heart and soul
So strong that I can't let you go

Food Fight

Support this blog by using this Amazon Link

As the level of the seed drops in the feeder, there are fewer feeding ports available. This is leads to some interesting fights for that remaining seed.

Fighting for space

Ruby-throated hummingbirds are extremely territorial. They spend most of there time chasing each other away from the feeders

The Oriole feeder presents a problem. The holes are big enough for wasps and yellow jackets to enter, where they drown and foul the sugar-water mix. I have to change it on a fairly regular basis.

These birds are such acrobats and so much fun to watch
